You would think having a blog or an online presence is like a walk in the park, right? I mean, it’s just content. However, there are processes and systems that can help you manage your content and ensure they get to where they are supposed to go. In this post, I’m going to be sharing with you the steps to make your content shine by creating a quarterly plan.
You’re finally going to get organized and start achieving the goals you set for yourself and the business. You’re going to focus on your business, instead of just your client’s. And you’re going to do it all in 3 months via quarterly planning! Just keep this post as a reference point, read over your quarterly plan every week, and pin it on your wall. At the end of every week, answer the following questions. Are you happy with your efforts? What could you improve?
Write everything that you want to do in your business this year, no matter how out-of-reach they may be. It could be to focus on education, to grow your audience and/or to partner with that company that you would love to work with. No goal is unachievable, so let’s be wildly ambitious. And don’t worry, you don’t need to know how you’re going to get there. That comes later.
Look back on the last 6 months and jot down all the things that you achieved that truly made you happy. Also, what things didn’t go so well? Why? Why are these goals so important to you? Where any of these goals included in your quarterly planning? What’s holding you back right now? In order to make progress, we need to be in the right mindset.
Let’s say that you want to make 6 figures. What can you do in your business to bring in revenue? How much revenue will x thing bring? Jot down every tiny idea that pops into your head. The same thing goes for booking more clients. What is going to make my business more desirable to those dream clients? How can I market myself better?
Which of these goals needs to happen before I can focus on the others? For me, this would involve setting goals for social media content as this will not only help to market our services better, but it will better-position ourselves as a professional design agency. This will help us book more clients and grow our following online.
Break down your goals to be placed in 3 month increments by creating a quarterly goal along with monthly goals to assist with it. For instance, yearly goal may involve earning 6 figures in profit. To reach that goal, your quarter goal for January-March may include booking higher profile clients. Your monthly goals can be to audit your social media accounts and creating social media goals and content for those goals.
If you’re like me, telling yourself ‘this quarter I’m going to launch a social media plan’ doesn’t happen unless you give yourself a step-by-step plan. Write a month-by-month list for each step you need to take to achieve this task.
January – Hire VOQUS to audit your social media page. Research topics to discuss that involve entertaining and educating. Look up social media holidays for the second quarter.
February – Design 6 templates for my page. Create freebies for my websites when driving traffic to your website from social media.
March – Shoot content and prepare captions for the second quarter. Create a landing page on your website. Create marketing newsletters.
April – Launch and implement actions prepped during Q1 and begin working on Q2 goals to meet your Yearly goal.
Turn your action plan into a monthly to-do list to see each individual task that you need to be working on this month. This way, you can simply look at the list of 4-6 items and work on one a week. This really helps to take one big goal like ‘hit 6 figures’ and transform it into easy-to-manage steps like ‘this week I need to create a social media content.’
